white knuckles

Sure this is fun. I'm having a great time standing here, shaking the railing and making it rattle a little bit. Yep, having a great time. What? Someone is afraid of falling? Ha! Not me. No way. Completely relaxed. Nothing but fun here, folks.
Ah, but your desperate grip betrays you, Jed.

What? I'm totally chill about this, dude.

And a shot of our coffee table.
In an effort to pick some house colors, I'm engaging in an ancient and little-known game of beige-green solitaire.

Congratulations, Trudy and Will!

It's a boy! And another boy! Luke Franklin and Isaac Swain arrived on January 23rd, sharing a birthday with one of their great-grandpas! Both were over seven pounds, both are happy and healthy, and the new parents are over the moon!

(don't ask me which is which in the pictures!)

kicks

As I started to put a second pair of socks on Jed before we went out this morning, I remembered that my dad's cousin had given him little soft sneakers when he was born. They now fit perfectly and will probably help him get a little more lift when he's jumping in the doorway bouncer. Of course, Ellie puts him to shame.

not sure what to make of them

What do you think about these, mama?

Ok. I've decided my new kicks are just fine.

more teeth?

For the second day in a row, my easy-sleeping child is raging against the crib. No fever, no signs of a cold or other illness, so I'm assuming he's working on another tooth or two. Grandma and Grandpa are coming for a visit later today. Suckas.

5 p.m. update: Jed finally dropped off for a long-ish nap shortly after this picture was taken and he's had a somewhat better afternoon since then.

From happier times, here are a few more snow pictures.

peace quilt '09*

shocking developments

Whatever, dude. I just want a piece of the quilt.

Now that I have him, what should I do with him?

Hey, um, can you move maybe? My foot's going to sleep.

and a blurry look at the teeth

*Thanks to C. Foley for naming the quilt. Maybe Gary should make one for the Palestinians and Israelis? Or at least the democrats and republicans.

teeth tie

The poll is closed and folks voted 6 to 4 in favor of the bottom left coming in first. So the winner is . . . it's a tie!

Well, sort-of.

About a week ago, we began to see little marks on his gum, one on each side of center. Then, on this past Saturday, we heard the bottom left (his left) clinking against the spoon, but the teeth were still covered by his gum. By yesterday, they'd emerged as far as you can see in the picture below and today, they are pretty well out. So the bottom left was audible first and it remains microscopically higher (taller?) than the one on the right, but in terms of when one could see white above the gum, it was a tie.

Happy chomping, Jed!

And while I'm uploading, here's another shot.
What up, Crazy Head Jed? We call that toy the Sphere of Wonder, but maybe it would be more accurate to use that title for his hair.

Christmas continued

Jed spent part of his weekend in Germanton for Christmas with Grandma's side of the family.

joy

In an unprecedented move, Winston voluntarily spent a little time with Jed today. This may have been the best moment of Jed's life to date.

. . . ok, don't tell Jed, but in addition to being part goat, Winston is part cat and like all good cats, he seeks the highest plane. The quilt is higher than the rug, thus, Winston wanted a piece of the quilt, so it's probably more accurate to assume that Winston wasn't really intending to hang out with Jed. Winston did acknowledge, however, Jed's pats on his paw with a couple of gentle sniffs of Jed's hair, and they shared a few seconds of locked eyes.

new poll!

As Jed's drooling reaches new levels of disgusting-ness, we're wondering which tooth will pop out first. I can feel tiny little bumps along the gum, but as for which one we'll see first, your guess is as good as mine!

Jed's Monday

After a quick visit to the doctor for Jed's monthly shot of antibodies for his lungs, he slept 2 hours and then was ready for some peas and sweet potatoes!

faster, please

Boy howdy! How good was that??
