laughing

all the way to the new house!

After celebrating Shannon's wedding and showering Caroline (and her soon-to-arrive baby), the Davids returned to Chapel Hill yesterday. I took my camera to all the events but didn't snap a single picture! I'm trusting that Caroline will post some in the coming days.

Update: Caroline has some wedding pictures up on her blog. Enjoy!

In the meantime, we're starting to pack up for our move on Friday. As a result, it's probably going to be awhile before I get back to regular posting, so enjoy these clips that I took from a two-minute-long video. Once the kid gets tickled, it's hard to stop him. If you don't find yourself laughing, or at least smiling, call your therapist asap.

sittin on the dock of the bay

well, not exactly . . . sittin on my lil' bear stool, wonderin where I'm gonna land my next drool . . .

Anyway, here's a little then-and-now for you.

Jed at two weeks, wearing his monkey outfit from Aunt Theresa and Uncle Mike, "sitting" on his bear stool from Uncle Ken and Aunt Carol, "holding" Teddy from Teddie.

And here we are ten months later. Same stool, same bear. The monkey outfit is long out-grown, and he's actually wearing a new shirt from Marmie that we didn't think would fit until this summer!

leapin leprechaun!

news, good and bad

The bad news first: Poor Jed has a cold, which he gave to his poor parents. It got started over the weekend, and it hasn't put anyone totally down-for-the-count, but no one feels too great in our household at the moment.

In good news, we have a signed contract on our townhouse, aka The Country House! And, while your school may or may not make the Final Four, mine already has!

not too ill to try climbing

ok, I helped him get a foot under himself but after that, he pushed himself up

and then got himself straightened out

and it is March, which means no cold shall stop the basketball

although some players rather eat the ball than dunk it

baby lunch!

As reported in the Pea Patch Post and soon to be reported on New Kid News I'm sure, Jed, Eli, and Ellie enjoyed lunch with their extended Winston-Salem families yesterday! It was great to see some of my favorite friends that I just don't get to see as often as I'd like. So thanks to Sherry for spurring us into organized action and thanks to Quinn, LeAnn, Robbie and John, and Rhita for joining us for a lunch that included wiggles, pureed vegetables, crumbs, squeals, and even a couple of attempts by Jed to swipe Rhita's blackened tuna!

get out from that kitchen

and rattle those pots and pans

Jed "helped" while I made cookies yesterday. Emeril better watch out because the kid knows how to wield his kitchen utensils.
(I discovered that the bridge of my nose is shockingly sensitive to wooden-spoon-strikes.)

weekend update

I was feeling pretty sad about leaving the kid as my train headed north on Friday, but a long, uninterrupted nap shortly after the train pulled away from the station reminded me that a break would be good. And good it was. Caroline, Shannon, and I had a nice dinner together on Friday night, Caroline hosted a great party on Saturday night, and I even got to visit with the Rutledges (Caroline's parents).

Before I left home on Friday, I told Jed to learn a new trick for me over the weekend, and being the good guy he is, he obliged! After weeks of waving hello and good-bye to him, he finally waved back to Uncle Brian! And for the rest of Brian's visit, Brain was the only person he deemed wave-worthy. Marmie finally got a couple of flaps of the hand yesterday afternoon and this morning, and I finally got one this afternoon! Hopefully, you'll get a wave soon, too!

Yesterday, Eric and I got to use our new keys for the first time! I know this picture would have been better if I'd had my apron and Eric had a pitch fork, but it does capture the camellias, which Be would have loved.

Thanks to Marlene for all of the photos, and especially for thinking to bring her camera to the new house!
