new for 2012

Recently, we've made some changes.

We started by tossing (literally) Jed and Macon's old changing table.
Note the duct tape along the bottom rail.

Then, we "converted" Macon's corner of the guest room into a play area . . .

and moved Macon down the hall, where he and Jed became roommates.

I'm guessing many of you take level floors for granted.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the room, Jed immediately set about destructing his new big boy bed.

Here's to plenty of jumping in 2012.

christmas day from dawn to dusk

Jed herded us downstairs at 6:30 . . .
and quickly discovered that Santa left a rescue pack from Diego and a pair of fireman's boots.

After that, it was game-on . . .

What could possibly be in this huge box?

No way!
It's a HUGE cement mixer from Uncle Brian and Aunt Dara!

Jed wrapped a gift for Eric and me at school, and he even wrote his name on the card.

More opening, less talking, people.

Later in the day, our little sleeping beauty finally got up.
Macon enjoyed his new toys . . .

but essentially, his gifts were just a second Christmas for Jed.

Throughout the day, Jed's gifts emerged from the piles of wrapping paper.
Here, Jed listens to Grandma's heart in her shoulder thanks to the doctor's kit from Uncle Ken and Aunt Carol.

Macon enjoys a Matchbox Car from Grandma and Grandpa . . .

and a car from Marmie.

By 7 p.m., Jed was ready to take his new bathrobe to bed!

Merry Christmas!

holiday baking

Jed and I made our first batch of Christmas cookies this morning.

In addition to clothing, Jed scoffs at uniform sizes and spacing.

5:15 update: Jed is actually crying and wailing, "I don't want to give those cookies to other people!" Apparently, we haven't yet instilled giving rather than receiving.

practicing from afar

We're at grandma and grandpa's, so I'm making a practice post from my phone.

I'm not sure about the order in which the pictures will upload, but you can figure it out: there's a crawling race, Macon in the high chair, a 30+-year-old toy that Jed has been enjoying, and two shots I of Jed at his first basketball game. Wake Forest beat Gardner-Webb, but only barely. It was more like Jed's first junior high school game.
