Grandma asked if Macon rode the carousel, too. Here's the answer:
And despite appearances, both boys wanted to ride a second time, with Macon demanding to go "up down" on a "horsey."

movement
It's been a week since my last post. Yikes!
My boys are still camera-ready, but when there's this much motion, our camera is not always ready.
In other moving news, kindergarten is just around the corner. Today, Jed went to his school's "Kindergarten Roundup." He visited a classroom while the moms and dads learned the ins and outs of lunch, transportation, and absences. The most shocking thing was lunch. The cafeteria manager brought in a sample from today's lunch, and it's safe to say that I'll be packing lunches for many, many, many years to come. The quantity of pre-packaged junk food and nearly-junk-food was surprising and disappointing: he won't be dining at the Germanton Elementary cafeteria of the 1980s, that's for sure.
But he seemed to enjoy the little adventure, and he is eager to ride the bus. Well, mum's the word on the bus front: I have not broken the news to him yet that we're in the "walk zone," so no yellow bus for you, Jed.

San Francisco!
In case you're still wondering, Jed and Eric went to San Francisco to visit Uncle Brian, Aunt Dara and Cousin Amara. They didn't take the camera, so we just have a few cell-phone pictures, although I believe Brian and Dara took some "real" pictures. They left very early Friday morning and returned very late Monday night. Jed was a wreck yesterday, thanks to a significant lack of sleep and a general post-trip let-down, but this morning, Macon woke him after 12.25 hours of sleep (no kidding!) and he's been in fine form today. I imagine he is talking the ears off his teachers and classmates this morning.
ready for take-off
on a cable car, holding a cable car
more cable car action
possibly the biggest highlight... the fire station!
on the way to dinner one night
at the zoo (please note the continued wearing of the fire helmet)
at music class with Amara
Thanks, Brian, Dara, and Amara, for a great trip!

where are Jed and Eric?
Macon and I went to lunch at the Wake Forest "birthplace" with Grandma and Grandpa on Saturday.
But where were Jed and Eric?
I have missed them both terribly, but they will be a sight for Macon's sore eyes for sure! I hear great reports and I'm looking forward to a post from Eric once they return.

happy birthday, Marmie!
And if you're wondering where the rest of the crew is, I got this picture at about 6:45 this morning.
Stayed tuned . . .

sleeping and visiting
Macon (and all of us) have had colds recently. We're better now, but when Macon gets sick, he tends to regress with separation anxiety for a week or two, so even though he's feeling better, he's a bit clingy. As a result, he woke up at 2:30 Tuesday morning asking to "go 'leep daddy bed." We held firm and he stayed in his own bed, but we were all worse for the wear, and Macon took an upright nap in the preschool stroller on Tuesday!
After opening his shades, making their beds, and putting away some laundry, he started stirring.
At breakfast, a little smoothie moustache . . .
looks great with a pair of shades.
In other news, Marmie joined us for a few days over this past weekend. As always, we wish she had stayed longer! We had a great visit, but took no pictures! On Sunday, we went to the art museum for brunch and a look around. Macon gleefully pointed out the "little peepee" on a sculpture of a naked Roman. Outside, Jed made a nest in the grass around a steel tree. We didn't poke any holes in any canvases nor did we tip over any statues, so all in all, I think we were top-notch patrons.

easter, basketball, photography
At Easter, Grandma and Grandpa gave the boys a basketball goal.
Game on!
Eventually, Jed swiped my camera and took some pretty good pictures.
Grandpa and Grandma
joined by our neighbor, McLeod
Then, on Easter morning, I said, "Let's get a group shot."
Grandma and Grandpa compliantly went to the green sofa, but the boys picked their own spots.
We managed to coax Jed to the appointed location, but this was the best we could do with Macon.
At some point during the visit, Jed again got the camera and he orchestrated a couple of studies of Grandma, during which he and Grandma switched places.
The somber dump-truck-book pictures are particularly good.
