bugs and baseball
Macon's preschool class has been raising ladybugs and on Thursday, he got to bring his home.
Happily, on Friday morning, he set the ladybug free, saying "He does not like being in jail."
Also on Thursday, Jed had his first t-ball game of the season. Here's his first at-bat.
Heading to first.
Hanging out on second.
Rolling along to third.

eggs, eggs everywhere
Last weekend, the boys hunted for Easter eggs at our church's annual hunt. Then, yesterday, Macon's preschool hosted another egg hunt. Tomorrow, we will hunt again at our neighborhood hunt... then we will all implode in a massive jelly-bean-fueled sugar crash.

this week
Earlier this week, I got to chaperone a kindergarten field trip.
While there was an educational component, the best part was playing.
And a little before and after . . .
The gap is caused by a tooth that's so loose it's turned sideways. That prompted me to capture what turned out the be the last photo of Jed's full-baby-tooth smile.
Less than 24 hours later, during a math lesson at school, the tooth came out.
And if you don't see much difference in the before and after, it's because his front two grown-up teeth are already half-way in and for about two weeks now, he's been a shark. (Sharks have two rows of teeth.)

marmie came to visit . . .
. . . and we only took one picture! At least it was a good one!
Thanks for sharing spring break with us, Marmie.

warming up
The weather is warming up a bit, and lots of construction and painting work at Grandma and Grandpa's is coming to an end, so we're just back from our first stay at their house in a long time.
Captain Strawberry and his sidekick Laidback Guy
(For those of you familiar with Grandma and Grandpa's house, this is the den, now bathed in sunny yellow! The dining room table will return to the dining room eventually.)

Yesterday, we went to Pilot Mountain on an outing Jed has already described to one neighbor as, "We went mountain climbing. We drove to the top, but then we went mountain climbing."
And then they visited Buffalo Creek Farm to get some of my favorite cheese (which I left in Grandma's fridge!) and came home with eggs. Jed's was giant and upon cracking it for breakfast this morning, we realized he'd scored a double-yoke-er!
