ganging up already

Jed's first paci-free weekend was trying for all of us, to say the least, but last night, the two teamed up: Macon decided to eat every 3 hours, after he'd wooed us with 4-hour and the occasional 5-or-more-hours overnight lately. Thanks, guys. That was fun for everyone.

Thankfully, the weekend did yield some sweet pictures.

Jed tried to introduce Macon to the wonders of the fire truck

and to the wonders of the play mat.

Macon was underwhelmed.

Jed also loaned his glasses, a party favor from cousin Katie's 5th birthday celebration, to Macon.

No one really wanted to get up at 6 on Sunday, but at least that gave us plenty of paper-reading time.

Could Be Ugly!

Tonight, while we ate dinner, we enjoyed a stealthy visit from the "Paci Fairy," who traded Jed's beloved, yet insidiously addictive, pacifier for a variety of toys and books. (Yes, per dentist's orders, Jed has to give up the paci immediately). Jed seemed happy with the gifts, but did not appreciate it at bedtime when he realized that the Paci Fairy, unlike Santa, takes as well as gives.

Sleep may be a rare thing tonight. We'll see.

Saturday morning update: Things didn't go as badly as we expected. We had lots of tears and whining until around 9 when Jed finally fell asleep, and he woke up early (6:30) and wouldn't go back to sleep, but that's not too bad for his first paci-free night. Now we just have to hope he has enough steam (pun intended) to enjoy the Thomas the Tank Engine live show he's going to this morning!

Saturday afternoon naptime update: If you thought Jed was not capable of screaming for 2 straight hours, you were wrong. But he had a blast at Thomas the Tank Engine.

macon & jed

First, a comparison . . .

Macon at 8 weeks, smiling in motion

Jed at 11 weeks, which is roughly comparable to Macon's 8 weeks given Jed's early arrival.
And yes, Macon has the same smile, but he tends to kick his legs when he shows it so I'm having trouble getting a still shot.

In the end, I was the only one disturbed when Jed rolled off his chair in slow-motion onto Macon.

my three davids

oh, I mean my four Davids . . .

Marmie is ready for her school picture. Macon is not.

Everybody look this way.
I said everybody look this way.

at home later that same day

December 13, less baggy

christmas comes again!

Marmie and Jim arrived on Wednesday and it felt like Christmas all over again! Alas, Jim has returned home, but Marmie is with us for most of January so I had my own personal Christmas at the gym this morning!

Jim mans Fort Macon

Jed must have been exceptionally good this year because Santa came to our house for the second time this season!

Jim gave Jed his first wallet, complete with "cash," "change," and "credit cards." Here, Jed negotiates with Jim for more money.

And Daddy instructs Jed on the finer points of wallet organization and the responsible use of credit cards.

The Woodards joined the party for a delayed Christmas dinner.
Thanks to Jim for the excellent tenderloin!
