Back in 1981, Mama and Daddy (aka Grandma and Grandpa) took me to Williamsburg.
This weekend, the boys crossed the James for the first time.
Three primary themes emerged: firearms, jail, and the bus.
Oh, also, a fourth theme: potties. Here, the potty is combined with jail. Double bonus.
Jed and I toured the Capitol.
And Macon enjoyed a stream . . .
. . . while Jed learned about the press.
Then it was back to armaments.
I'm starting to look short.
This was our first family trip that involved a hotel and it seemed like a good time was had by all. The boys were very well-behaved, loved the hotel pool, and enjoyed dinner out with the grown-ups. If I had to guess, I'd say their new pistols, the shuttle bus, and the fife and drum corps were their favorite things (in that order), but they also liked talking to the costumed guides and being able to walk down the center of the street. Other favorites may surface as they digest the trip over the coming days, but for now, we are all happy to crawl into our own beds tonight. Well, all of us excepting Macon who shed tears over having to return to "our regular house" tonight.
