cuts and climbs

Yesterday, Eric took Jed to a manly barber shop for cut #4. As a result, Jed came out with a manly haircut. At least we can be thankful that we won't have to take him in again for many months.
This morning, Jed practiced taking his sweater on and off.
He has not mastered the putting-on part yet.

Then he did some climbing, also with mixed results, particularly in the getting-down department.

I'd like to get down now, but I'm not sure how.

gray days

yesterday's rain kept us inside and on the phone

Today was just cloudy, but Jed spread some sun with his newly-discovered itsy-bitsy spider hand motions.
I know, I know, the fingers are supposed to come together,
but it's a start.

two bits-n-tids

First, check out Eli and Ellie's blogs for more pictures from the weekend.

Second, without commentary on cigarettes or Big Tobacco, I never imagined I'd see this building up for sale. Here's a slide show with a small number of interior pictures at the end.

blogged babies meet again

Yesterday, Eli and his parents, Chris and Sherry, traveled to our house from Virginia in anticipation of today's baby meeting among Jed, Eli, and Ellie and Ellie's parents, James and Delana.

Eli arrived after Jed's bedtime (and after Eli's for that matter!), so this morning, Jed was pretty surprised to find a new breakfast mate.

After pears, milk, and eggs we headed to the park!

Later in the morning, Ellie and her parents arrived and, eventually, lunch arrived. Eric and I thought we had a great idea for lunch: barbecue from The Pit. We failed, however, to take into account the Raleigh Christmas parade, the 60,000 spectators it attracted, and the countless number of closed streets it put between our house and the restaurant. Thanks to Eric's perseverance (I told him to turn around and that we could just order sandwiches from the place around the corner), we finally enjoyed the fruits of the pig accompanied by Sherry's delicious yeast rolls followed by Delana's persimmon pudding and three kinds of cookies!

Ellie and her dad (James) enjoy lunch
bbq all around!

and after lunch: motion!
all except for Jed who wanted to hang out in a box

YUM!
cookies and persimmon pudding!

eventually, Jed had to retire for the afternoon

but Eli stayed awake for more persimmon pudding

lunch time

Today, Jed came home with a skunk sticker on his shirt. Are they trying to tell me something? Anyway, here's some shots from lunch today.

out and about

Jed and I were supposed to be pretty far afield this weekend, but we only made it to Germanton.

Last weekend, Jed, Ellie and Eli planned to get together at Eli's house, but poor Eli got sick, so we rescheduled to yesterday. That, however, was not to be.

On Thursday, Jed came home from playschool with a bit of a drippy nose. By Friday, while he seemed to feel fine, his nose looked like a backwards version of the Tigris and Euphrates. Again, we had to cancel, and again we rescheduled. Hopefully, the third time will be the charm.

In the meantime, Jed and I traveled as far as Germanton on Friday in hopes that his nose would dry out so we could carry on to Virginia on Saturday. That did not come to pass, but he had a great time hanging with Grandma and Grandpa. They seemed undaunted by his juicy nose, and thankfully for your sake, the camera didn't really capture it.
